Four Stories founder Tracy Slater is a writer from Boston who now lives in Japan, where her husband is from.

Her book The Good Shufu, a memoir, is forthcoming from Penguin's Putnam imprint.

Her essay publications include pieces in The New York Times online, CNNGo, Best Women’s Travel Writing 2008, Boston Magazine, the Boston Globe, Post Road, the Chronicle Review, Asian Jewish Life (a journal title that always makes her husband laugh), Japan, Inc., Asahi Weekly, and more.

Tracy earned her PhD in English and American Literature from Brandeis University and is the recipient of the PEN New England 2008 "Friend of Writers" award.
